Tracking CATS: Action from CATS July 2017 Meeting

The CATS Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, July 18, for its regularly scheduled meeting.

The Board approved three items, awarding a tire contract to Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, extending a contract with Hewitt Washington & Associates for bus shelter construction management. The Board also approved a Title VI Report and its Limited English Proficiency Plan, which are requirements of the Federal Transit Administration.

Other key highlights from the meeting:

  • CATS is finalizing its five-year strategic plan, which will be formally presented to the board and the public in the coming months.
  • CATS launched its new website at the start of July, improving how it communicates with its riders and the public.
  • CATS is researching and planning for new performance metrics that are more in line with its peer transit agencies.
  • Currently 10 cadets are in training to become bus operators, which will help CATS improve the reliability to its service.
