CATS to Waive All Fares on October 26 and November 5 for Election Access

October 23, 2024

BATON ROUGE, L.A. – The Capital Area Transit System (CATS) is proud to announce that all fares will be waived on Saturday, October 26, and Tuesday, November 5, to support residents in getting to the polls for early voting and Election Day.

This initiative is part of CATS’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. By offering fare-free rides on these key dates, CATS aims to reduce barriers to voting and encourage civic participation.

“We want to make sure that transportation is not an obstacle to anyone who wants to cast their vote,” said Theo Richards, CEO of CATS. “By providing free rides, we hope to help our community get to the polls safely and easily.”

Passengers can board any CATS bus without paying a fare throughout the entire service area. Regular service schedules will be in effect, and no special passes or vouchers are needed to take advantage of this fare-free program.
