CATS, Healthy Blue & Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center roll into the seventh annual Health Fair

October 13, 2020

BATON ROUGE, LA - The Capital Area Transit System (CATS), along with its community partner Healthy Blue, is hosting its 7th annual health fair on Friday, October 16, 2020.

"The health fair is one of our most well-attended community events each year," said CATS CEO Bill Deville. "This year's event will be on a much smaller scale due to Phase 3 provisions and to encourage social distancing as much as possible," Deville continued.

The community event will offer take-home colorectal cancer screening kits provided by Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, educational material will be provided, and Healthy Blue will provide nearly 200 pre-packaged food boxes prepared by Top Box Louisiana. These limited food boxes are on a first-come-first-served basis.

“Healthy Blue continues to support local efforts that address the social drivers of health, including food insecurity, as we all continue to adapt to the ever-changing environment,” said Aaron Lambert, plan president, Healthy Blue. “Healthy Blue remains focused on fostering deeper relationships and developing real-time solutions to meet the critical needs of the local community. Through this support, Healthy Blue will provide meals to families, children, and seniors to ensure access and affordability of healthy meals.”
