Capital Area Transit System (CATS) Seeking Community Input for the Empower Baton Rouge Transit Study 

BATON ROUGE, L.A. – The Capital Area Transit System (CATS) is evaluating the transit needs for the cities of Baton Rouge and Baker through the Empower Baton Rouge study to better plan for transit services and passenger amenities. Community engagement is a vital component of the study. 

This month, Empower Baton Rouge is providing opportunities for community members to share information about their transportation experience to identify existing barriers and needs. There will be opportunities for community members to engage with the study through listening sessions, surveys, and other events.  

Survey Period 

Community members can participate in an interactive Empower Baton Rouge Study survey here. The survey will be open through October 6, 2023.  

Listening Sessions 

The study team will host one virtual and four in-person listening sessions for community members. The sessions will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the study and discuss current transportation services. Community members can attend any listening session regardless of where they live or work. Additional events will be planned and announced for later in September.     • Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Virtual Registration Link
       
    • Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Baker Municipal Center Auditorium (3325 Groom Road) 

    • Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dr. Leo S. Butler Community Center (950 Lorri Burgess Ave) 

    • Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at EBRPL Fairwood Branch Library (12910 Old Hammond Hwy) *A shuttle will be available.

    • Thursday, September 14, 2023 and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at BREC Ben Burge Park on Elvin Drive (9350 Antigua Dr)

About Empower Baton Rouge 

Empower Baton Rouge will use community input, technical analysis, and best practices to propose potential solutions to the challenges faced by the community. The study team will also use data collected in recent projects, such as the MOVEBR Program and the Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA), to build upon community engagement efforts. CATS will work with the East Baton Rouge City-Parish Department of Public Works and Planning Department to implement prioritized projects.
