CATS Announces Leadership Transition

BATON ROUGE, La. -
The Capital Area Transit System (CATS) Board of Commissioners announced today that a special Board Meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in order to resolve pending personnel issues with regards to the CEO position.

“Our first priority here at CATS is always the people and community that we serve,” said interim CEO Dwana Williams. “Our CATS team comes to work every day with one goal in mind- connecting our loyal riders to the people and places that matter to them. We are looking forward to resolving these issues once and for all, so we can focus on setting a new course for the future. CATS will continue to work with our community partners, as well as with federal, state, and local government, to ensure Baton Rouge has the transit system they deserve.”

CATS Board of Commissioners will meet at 5:00 pm, at 350 North Donmoor Avenue.

“The CATS Board is always mindful of our position as a steward of taxpayer dollars,” said Board of Commissioners President Kahli Cohran. “With that duty in mind, we wanted to make sure our actions going forward were thoughtful and deliberate.

We are grateful for the decades of leadership and experience Ms. Williams is providing during this transition period, and we are looking forward to this next chapter for CATS with great anticipation and confidence.”
